Democratic Black Caucus Of Florida

Forty years ago, over forty Black delegates from around the State of Florida, attending the 1981 Florida State Democratic Party Convention in Hollywood, Florida were alerted to the need for increasing the power and influence of Black Democrats within the party. A decision was made at that Convention to unite Black Democrats throughout the State. The decision resulted in the organization of the Democratic Black Caucus of Florida, which was officially recognized on September 24, 1983, by the Florida Democratic Party Florida as an official affiliate organization.
